Therapeutic Methods
CBT
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a well researched treatment approach shown to be effective for depression, anxiety, , and relationship difficulties among other problems. CBT focuses on unhelpful thoughts, learned patterns of behavior and different ways of coping that help improve symptoms and quality of life.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an educational and skill-based treatment with an emphasis on managing intense emotions and navigating social relationships. Like CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy has been shown effective with numerous problems such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, anxiety and depression, substance use disorders and self-harm.
ACT
Acceptance and commitment therapy helps improve psychological flexibility; an openness to exploring and adapting ones' thoughts to line up with their values. ACT is helpful for work stress, substance use disorders, anxiety and derision among other conditions.
Eye movement desensitization reprocessing therapy, aka EMDR, is highly effective at repairing "injured" memories that cause significant distress. EMDR focuses on images rather than talk therapy to heal the mind from traumatic experiences.
